Alyssa Nunez, Trainee
Hello everyone! My name is Alyssa Nunez, and I am a graduate student at Walden University pursuing my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I received my undergraduate degree in Communications from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. I am also employed as a family specialist at a non-profit, assisting families of at-risk youth in my community, including social and emotional support. I love that I can help children and their families get through difficult seasons of life and feel empowered to handle life's challenges.
After having my son, I was inspired to make a significant life and career transition. I decided to make my dreams a reality in February 2023 by enrolling at Walden University to pursue my Master of Science to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I am deeply humbled to be an intern with Synergistic Body and Mind to help guide and support clients in their pursuit of improved mental health and wellness.
I am thrilled and grateful to begin my field experience with Dr. Nugent and Dr. Wilborn. Through my practicum and internship with Synergistic Body and Mind, I will apply my education, counseling techniques, and skills with the mentorship and guidance of Dr. Wilborn and Dr. Nugent. My anticipated graduation is in the Winter of 2025. I am eager to utilize evidence-based practices that include Cognitive Behavioral, Client-Centered, and Mindfulness-Based approaches to help empower and encourage clients.
I also want you to know I am a mother of two beautiful children, a 3-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl. I enjoy spending time with my family (a very proud Aunt of five nephews and one niece), propagating some of my favorite plants, and trying new restaurants.
I look forward to beginning my professional journey with you all!
