Sub-Charter for the Mental Health Nonprofit: Use of Funds for Supporting the Disabled Population

Article I: Purpose and Mission

The purpose of this Mental Health Nonprofit Synergistic Body and Mind (hereinafter referred to as “the Organization”) to support individuals with disabilities. The principal office is located at 1603 Babcock Rd., Suite 238-5, San Antonio, TX  79228. The Organization recognizes that people with disabilities face unique challenges in accessing mental health services and is committed to providing financial, educational, and therapeutic resources that promote mental health equity for this population.

The mission is to ensure that disabled individuals have access to affordable, comprehensive, and accessible mental health care and support services, empowering them to achieve well-being and independence.

Article II: Allocation and Use of Funds

Funds raised or designated for supporting the disabled population will be allocated and used in accordance with the following guidelines. The primary focus will be on providing access to mental health care, creating supportive environments, and advocating for mental health equity for disabled individuals.

Section 1: Direct Mental Health Services for Disabled Individuals

1. Financial Assistance for Therapy and Counseling: Funds will be used to provide free or low-cost therapy, counseling, and psychiatric care to individuals with disabilities. This includes individual, group, and family therapy sessions.

2. Access to Specialized Care: The Organization will allocate funds to connect disabled individuals with specialized mental health providers who are trained to address the unique mental health needs of people with physical, cognitive, and sensory disabilities.

3. Accessibility Enhancements: Funds will be used to remove barriers to mental health services by providing accommodations such as sign language interpreters, accessible transportation, assistive technology, and modifications to therapy environments to ensure that mental health care is accessible to all individuals with disabilities.

4. Telehealth Services: Financial resources will be allocated to cover the costs of telehealth services, ensuring that individuals with disabilities, particularly those in rural or underserved areas, can access mental health care from their homes.

Section 2: Disability-Specific Mental Health Programs

1. Support Groups for Disabled Individuals: The Organization will use funds to develop and sustain peer-led and therapist-facilitated support groups tailored to individuals with specific disabilities. These groups will offer mental health support and foster a sense of community and inclusion.

2. Crisis Intervention and Prevention: Funds will be allocated to provide immediate support for individuals with disabilities who are experiencing a mental health crisis. This may include 24/7 crisis helplines, crisis intervention teams, and emergency response plans that are sensitive to the needs of disabled individuals.

3. Rehabilitation and Recovery Programs: The Organization will fund mental health rehabilitation and recovery programs specifically designed for disabled individuals. These programs may include therapeutic interventions that focus on managing trauma, stress, anxiety, and depression related to the challenges of living with a disability.

Section 3: Education, Training, and Advocacy

1. Public Awareness Campaigns: Funds will be used to launch campaigns that raise awareness of the mental health needs of the disabled population, combat stigma, and encourage inclusive mental health care practices among providers and the broader community.

2. Training for Mental Health Providers: A portion of the funds will be dedicated to training mental health professionals on disability sensitivity, best practices for working with disabled individuals, and how to provide equitable care.

3. Educational Resources for Disabled Individuals and Families: The Organization will allocate funds to create educational materials, workshops, and seminars for disabled individuals, their families, and caregivers to help them better understand mental health challenges and available resources.

4. Advocacy for Policy Change: The Organization will use funds to support advocacy initiatives aimed at improving access to mental health care for disabled individuals. This includes lobbying for disability-inclusive policies, mental health parity, and expanded insurance coverage for disabled individuals requiring mental health services.

Section 4: Community and Capacity Building

1. Peer Support Networks: Funds will be allocated to create and maintain peer support networks where individuals with disabilities can share their experiences and offer mutual support in managing mental health challenges.

2. Community Outreach and Engagement: The Organization will use funds to reach underserved disabled communities, particularly those in rural or under-resourced areas, to ensure they have access to mental health resources and support.

3. Capacity Building for Disability Organizations: The Organization will allocate funds to partner with and support other disability-focused organizations to expand their capacity to provide mental health services, ensuring a larger reach and impact.

Section 5: Research and Innovation

1. Research on Mental Health and Disability: Funds will be used to support research on the intersection of mental health and disability, with the goal of developing new approaches, therapies, and interventions that address the specific mental health needs of individuals with disabilities.

2. Innovative Mental Health Solutions: The Organization will allocate resources to pilot innovative mental health programs, including technology-driven interventions, to improve mental health outcomes for disabled individuals.

Article III: Financial Oversight and Transparency

To ensure the ethical and effective use of funds dedicated to supporting the disabled population:

1. Budgeting and Auditing: The Organization will create an annual budget that specifically outlines how funds designated for disabled individuals will be used. The use of funds will be subject to regular financial audits to ensure transparency and accountability.

2. Donor Reporting: Donors will be provided with detailed reports on how their contributions are being used to support mental health initiatives for disabled individuals. These reports will include information on program outcomes, financial allocations, and success stories.

3. Impact Reporting: The Organization will publish annual impact reports to demonstrate the effectiveness of its programs in improving access to mental health care and the well-being of the disabled population.

Article IV: Program Evaluation and Improvement

The Organization is committed to continuously improving the quality and effectiveness of its mental health services for the disabled population. To this end:

1. Program Monitoring: The Organization will regularly monitor the impact of its services on the mental health of disabled individuals through surveys, feedback mechanisms, and outcome assessments.

2. Stakeholder Involvement: The Organization will actively engage individuals with disabilities, their families, and caregivers in the evaluation process to ensure that services are meeting the needs of the disabled community.

3. Continuous Improvement: Based on evaluation results, the Organization will make necessary adjustments to programs, services, and resource allocation to better support the disabled population.

Article V: Amendments

This sub-charter may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the Board of Directors, provided that any amendments align with the Organization’s mission to support the mental health needs of the disabled population.

Effective Date: This sub-charter is adopted on August 1, 2023, and is effective as of that date.
